Screenshot Culture

Welcome to Screenshot Culture, where we talk about the real impact of what we post online. From digital footprints that never fade to how social media affects our mental health, let’s get into the stuff that actually matters.

What you post lasts forever—so let’s talk about it.

Our Mission

At Screenshot Culture, we’re talking about how what you post online can stay with you, for real. We break down the impact of your digital footprint and how social media affects your mental health. It's about making smart choices and staying aware in a world where nothing really disappears.

So… What is a digital footprint?

A digital footprint is like the mark you leave on the internet. It’s everything you do online: the photos you post, the comments you make, the sites you visit, and even the things you search for. It’s kind of like your online life—what you share and what’s shared about you. And just like real footprints, it can follow you around, sometimes longer than you expect. So, it's smart to think before you click or post.

I’ll post what I want; what’s the worst that could happen anyway?

A bad digital footprint can lead to a lot of consequences, like damaging your reputation or making it harder to get into college or land a job. Employers and schools often check online profiles, and if they find anything negative, it could hurt your chances. It can also lead to cyberbullying, privacy breaches, and even legal issues if something you posted crosses a line. It’s important to manage your online presence carefully to avoid long-term effects.

About Me

Hey, I’m Anika, and I’m a freshman at the Downingtown STEM Academy. I’m passionate about using technology, public speaking, and community work to make a difference. I am the of host Screenshot Culture, a place where I dive deep into the consequences of our digital footprints and how social media can affect mental health. I believe that what we post online can have long-lasting effects, and my goal is to help others think critically about their online actions.

Outside of Screenshot Culture, I’m always involved in my community—whether it’s volunteering, working on research projects, or staying engaged in extracurricular activities. I’m also a black belt in taekwondo and a dedicated piano player, which helps me stay disciplined and motivated in everything I do. Through Screenshot Culture, I want to spark important conversations that help people be more mindful of their online presence and the impact it can have on their futures.
